Death Doula
At this point in time, dementia is a terminal disease. Contrary to popular belief, people diagnosed with dementia can participate in discussions about their disease and assist with end-of-life planning if we offer them the opportunity to do so early on.
End-of-life doulas provide non-medical companionship and support to those facing a terminal illness or death. With Ann's background in dementia care and training as an end-of-life doula, you can expect a knowledgeable and compassionate approach to addressing difficult topics.
Doula services are fully customizable and may include:
Providing a safe space to talk openly about disease and dying
Listening to an individual’s wishes for the end of their life and helping them communicate these with loved ones
Discussing the advanced healthcare directive including views about receiving medical care
Offering the chance to review life and complete legacy projects to pass on to those left behind
Helping the person diagnosed and their loved ones process emotions surrounding dementia and death
Preparing the home or a room for a death based on the wishes of the individual
Explaining the signs and symptoms of the dying process
